FEMININE AND DRAMATIC IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS

This photoshoot had the most perfect of conditions :
the location shot in Banff with the rocky mountains as a stunning and dramatic backdrop. the model was my client Anastasia, who I never tire of using as a hair and color model. the concept, photography and styling came from my friend, fellow collaborator of all things pretty and fun, and photographer TARA WHITTAKER. and credit for the beautiful make up seen on the model was JENNA ANDERSON who is such a talented makeup artist. this was an wonderful introduction to one another, and I look forward to more creative ventures.

the concept of this creative shoot was to showcase vintage veils that Bonnie and Theresa of A VINTAGE AFFAIR have collected and showcase in their lovely vintage boutique.
they range in dates as far back as 1920's-1940's.

the prep-work and styling was done first inside a gorgeous suite in JUNIPER HOTEL in Banff national park. then we gathered our tools of the trade, and off we went into the heart of Banff townsite to find the backdrops you see here.

MEET MRS. WEAVER

when I was approached by a colleague to do a vintage photoshoot to help re-create the imagery for
MRS. WEAVERS FINEST UNMENTIONABLES website and branding,  I dam near jumped out of my skin.
not only was this an opportunity for a creative shoot doing "ERA vintage hair" it was an even better opportunity to work with some really fun, creative and like-minded women and entrepreneurs.
Allana, Karen and I hit a patio to discuss the details and intricacies of the shoot itself and also her vision. the rest all fell into place ...much like giving candy to a baby...pure sweetness

heres a look at some behind-the-scenes moments. a long beautiful day was had by all and for me what was so unexpected was the amazing intimate moments us 6 women all had. most of whom had never met and were working under extreme conditions
of intimacy..and lets face it ..NAKEDNESS

yes we "dropped trou"
this was also new territory for me as I prefer (insist usually) that I stay behind the scenes
translated: DO NOT TAKE MY PHOTO
I was coerced into not only doing what I do best behind the scenes but also step in front of camera and step way way out of my comfort zone.....
my early 6am start of self prepping prior to going to location

im not sure either Allana nor I were quite sure how her baby fine textured straight virgin hair (seriously could you throw more at me?) would behave...miraculous is what it was

heres Karen - mastermind proprietor and creator of MRS WEAVERS FINEST.... she is unbelievably talented and this was such an enjoyably day working along side her. she was so easy going allowing me to turn her home and parlour into something along the lines of "bombs going off" undies and bobby pins and makeup flying about

I love working with my KEVIN MURPHY tool kits. both the wave clips and hair curlers were used on the ladies and they work exceptionally well for creating era (in this case 20's-30's) hair.

man how I miss working along side this amazing stylist and educator, Vicki
this was a new setting for us both .glad she could be part of this day

Vicki's hair was just long enough to get into my wave KM wave clips

practising her skills

Dayln getting a break from all her makeup duties to get her hair set.

Dayln working her magic on me..have not worn makeup since my back street boy days?

ah the life of a model..check your phone paint your nails drink your prosecco

stay tuned for the end result......and in the meantime I encourage you  to check out her website and blog
