SOME BUTI LOVE...sneak peek
so I cant start my post on this photo shoot without a little background on
how this idea came to me..
downward dog...
yep was in this grueling, challenging, and awesome class at the gym ...BUTI YOGA
I've been going once a week for over a year now at MOTION FITNESS and happy to report I can almost touch my toes
the premise behind the moves in this class are part tribal dance part yoga part plyometric
meet robin , the instructor that I love and curse all at the same time.. she has this chiseled bod and long blonde natural wavy hair..
and me being the hair geek that I am I watch her move both her body and her hair in this class like
an art form, and although I should be focusing on breathing and getting thru class, I think how I can get my hands on her head?
so while i'm upside down in this god awful position I think up my idea to combine fun editorial hair with muscle/fitness photo shoots, that always seem to me so contrived and (understandably) very little detail goes into the artistic side of these amazing women with amazing sculpted bodies.
theres only so many images of women with beautiful sculpted bodies in boy shorts hanging from a pull up bar, one can look at.... but that's just me
why cant I take a fitness model like robin and have artistic freedom whilst showcasing both what I love to do and also her, and her passion and expertise. as like most of my shoots, hair make up and costume were done on location. and very much ad-libbing as they say...
kevin murphy color bug was used ..pink purple orange all used and really worked into her braids that went in for 2nd change of setting.
it was something new for myself, and also Michelle who is a nature photographer, who like myself likes to push boundaries
heres the sneak peek and a look at the prep work going into this shoot.....
the setting could not have been more fitting |
alfresco dining area turned into prep station |
dayln and I making good use of our time- |
look at those serious faces..surprised my tongue isn't out |
robin such a trooper this was her 3rd hair/costume change....glass of wine helped |
the bits and bobs I gathered for costume were the perfect accompaniment |
I seriously dislike braiding but they say practise makes perfect...verdict still out? |
stay tuned for the captured images......
cheers
thanks to MICHELLE GIER PHOTOGRAPHY
and DAYLN SJOGREN of DAYLNS DAYDREAM MAKE UP
and special thanks to my firends' the LUSSIER FAMILYfor allowing us to invade their backyard
elbow park wasn't too sure what to think of all the hoop-la

WINTER REDS....
When its frosty - cold outside we are well trained at keeping our hands and tootsies warm...
why not take it one step further and take notice of WINTER REDS!
I can't think of much better (ok I can but..this is a hair blog ) during the winter months than smoking hot red hair to warm up the winter season..I know if I had my way, everyone would be a red head at least once in their life...so winter blues got you down? embrace feeling RED-HOT
February, the month of love, and all shades relating to is seemingly the perfect time to showcase.
and of course my girl crush, Florence....

HAUTE HIGHLIGHTS
HAUTE: FASHIONABLE. HIGH CLASS. ELEVATED. HIGH-TONED. ORIGINALLY USED BY THE FRENCH DATED AS FAR BACK AS 1787 so it should go without saying that haute highlights imply a sense of high fashion in the world of fashion and design the meaning stems from creation of exclusive fashions. entre Paula, a woman with discerning taste but also a lighthearted and fun edge to her. wanting to grow her hair out and have a change from "cotton candy" lightened to the point of invisible blonde, I opted for PRAVANA VIVIDS deposit only (muy muy conditioning) paraben free silk protein infused semi coloring system.

LOVE THE NEW "ROOT" AFFECT PEEKING THRU |
OKAY SHES ADORABLE -ALL THERE IS TO IT |

4TIPS FOR KEEPING COLORED HAIR HEALTHY DURING WINTER
Coloring your hair can be a fun way to drastically switch up your look, without requiring an abundance of work and/effort. A fashion forward fun addition to your hair/beauty regimen, coloring your hair is a instantaneous way to revitalize your look/attitude
doing so during the winter months has the potential to cause dryness/damage to your hair, especially in the dry cold climate which we reside. Winter is the harshest season of the year, but don’t let your hair get left out in the cold! The following 4 tips will help to keep your colored hair healthy and smiling all winter long
moisture is your friend
One of the best tips for anyone who has colored hair during the winter months, is remembering to keep your hair moisturized. like our skin and body, hair needs moisture both inside and out. By utilizing a deep conditioner once a week, and leave in products that are helpful in terms of adding moisture, you will increase your hair’s level of moisture and help protect it from the brutal winter hair and its drying effects
go to a professional
seriously, go see your stylist. While coloring your own hair due for convenience/ cost effectiveness, may seem the road to travel , its usually done so at the detriment of your hair. i DO NOT recommend. perhaps having succeeded in managing your hair in the past, it only takes one wrong turn -come on admit it we've all done it. seeing a professional during the winter months helps ensure that you maintain sexy, healthy hair free of damage. we help offer solutions and prevent further issues with dryness
use less heat
This one should go without saying, but using less heat -yes that includes your flat iron cheeky monkeys- during the colder months will help to limit the damage being caused overall. time to experiment with au naturel and other tools such as Velcro rollers
raise your protein levels
Lastly, increasing your protein levels is a great way to protect your hair during the winter. As protein is the backbone of hair. protein helps to repair the damage done from chemicals as well as harsh temperatures, environment florescent lighting (always count on those to unflatter as well) and winds, and just plain helping to reinforce the added moisture.raise your protein levels
Overall, taking care of your color-treated hair during the winter can be a cinch. Simply follow these tips and you’re well on your way......cheers
