STEPPING INTO SPRING

well we can finally call it...spring has arrived, and we are actually seeing signs its right around the corner...longer days warmer nights birds chirping..and spring fashion that doesnt consist of all black. trees are forming buds but still in winter mode, which was perfect for the style of this shoot . In the spirit of the upcoming season, a springtime impromptu photoshoot emerged. I styled hair on a bridal project with TARA WHITTAKER  who wanted to showcase a  handful of simple ideas for a spring wedding. who says this time of year is void of color?
soft peaches, pinks and muted earth tones were the theme of this spring shoot

SNEAK PEEK:SPRING PHOTO SESSION

what a great time for an impromptu creative shoot...we've had a mild but dry brown (translated: dull) winter, so capturing winter wonderland images are not meant to be, and yet too early for color. no blooms or flowers to be had....
however.
my friend and wedding photographer Tara Whittaker walked into the salon into the salon on a Wednesday as Anastasia was leaving.. she took one look at us both, asked if we had plans on Saturday....and the rest as they say is history... ok ladies lets pull this shoot together in three days. here's some before images in the salon before heading to location.

before: Anastasia's broom stick straight hair and heavy fringe gave me a great challenge as to how to put up?

how I love thee hotrollers, let me count the ways..

day at the office...

so in an attempt to get with the times and jump on the social media wagon, every now and again I remember to take some before and afters......more times than not its one or the other...and then in  the words of homer simpson, this is uttered....DOOOOOH
this is a realistic day at the salon
meet kim
we've been growing out her hair
not going so well..BO-RING
lets kick it up a notch I say...
knowing shes game for anything
and was able to remember before during after shots all in the same session
yay me
here's a look at some before.after

kims before: roots in need of tlc and this in between length is lacking some edge

so a little edge was added: business on top, some party underneath

the waiting game...

the end result: an edgy undercut utilizing her fantastic textured hair..can be worn straight curly or somewhere in between
some bold sun kissed highlights added to emphasise disconnection

an ettempt at the elusive selfie....lame but hey im a stylist not a photographer
                                                                    cheers!
